Iron Worker Injured by Steel Plate

$1.675 million settlement for 37 year-old iron worker who was hit with a piece of plate steel when it came off of an electric hoist he was using that did not have a safety catch or “mouse” on the hook.  This settlement was obtained at trial along with the assignment of contribution claims against the plaintiff’s employer which were then tried to jury verdict finding 95% fault on the employer. This finding by the jury effectively wiped out the $600K workmen’s compensation lien on the settlement.
